Shield quartered of Gules and Argent, four aspen leaves in cross, being Argent in the quarters Gules and Vert in the quarters Argent.
Meaning:
The leaves and the quartered shield are representing the four former municipalities of Espenau, which merged on 1 December 1970. The aspen (German: Espe) leaves are canting elements.
