Description of current flag:
The flag's ratio is approx 2:3. It is a red over white over red horizontal triband with ratio 1:4:1. The coat of arms is in the white stripe and slightly shifted to the hoist.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a red field is a silver (=white) key pointing downwards. The knob is superimposed by a green oak leaf, the beard by two black chevrons.
Meaning:
According to source the coat of arms is combining elements of the former cities of Langenberg(oak leaf), Neviges(chevrons) and Velbert(key).
