Waren Coat of Arms
Shield Or; on a mount issuant Vert, flanked by waves Azure, a castle Gules, consisting of an embattled wall masoned Sable and two embattled towers with cone roofs, between the towers a demi-bull Sable, crowned Or and armed Argent, topped by an impending helmet Azure crested by two circles of peacock feathers proper.
Meaning:
The coat of arms is based upon a city seal with prints from 1344. Waves and hill are representing the landscape on the shores of Lake Müritz. The castle is symbolising a fortified market town. The demi-bull is a differentiation of the arms of the Princes of Rostock and alluding to Prince Borwin II of Rostock, who granted city rights to the market town around 1225. A helmet with peacock feathers is the crest of the arms of the Lords of Werle. Waren had been the residence of the Werle-Waren branch between 1347 and 1425.

The flag was approved on 27 September 1993 by Minister of Interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The arms were granted on 10 April 1858 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Both were published in the Municipal Roll of Arms Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as no.44.
