Ruhland City Coat of Arms

Shield Or, a double-headed eagle Sable, armed and tongued Gules, in chief an impending Imperial Crown proper.
Meaning:
A local castle was mentioned in 1317. The village gained city rights in 1397. A local seal around 1600 displayed the insignia of the Holy Roman Empire, having a circumscription "DES STAEDTLEINS RVHLAND GROSERE INSIEGEL". The reason for the use of the Imperial insignia is not known.
