Roth Coat of Arms
Shield quartered of Argent and Sable with an initial "R" Gules in the 1st quarter.
Meaning:
The 1st seal was probably made around 1340, first mentioned in 1382 and proven by prints since 1392. It displayed the greater arms of the Burgraves of Nürnberg with the quartered Zollern shield and crested by a helmet with a hound's head. The shield alone with the additional initial appeared first on a secret seal from 1400. The colour of the initial is proven since 1718. The pattern appeared on calibration marks, brands and watermarks in connection with the arms since 1734. In 1819 the tinctures of the shield were changed to white and blue and a 2nd initial was added in the 4th quarter. The arms on the banner display the shield in a golden Baroque cartouche and a mural crown of the same.

A probably plain bicolour in the tinctures white-black of the Zollern kin was mentioned since 1625. The arms are known since the 14th century.
