Description of banner:
It is a white - green - white vertical triband with ratio 1:3:1. At the top edge are five alternating green and white squares. Below the squares is the coat of arms.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess into silver (=white) and green. Above three green beech trees are sprouting from the bottom of the silver field. In the green field lies a horizontal silver (=white) sword having a golden (=yellow) hilt.
Meaning:
According to source the figures are taken from a markstone of the Bispinghof (lit.: bishop's court). This mansion is considered to be the settlement core of the municipality.

The banner was approved by minister of interior of Northrhine-Westphalia on 29 November 1948, the coat of arms was approved on 5 October 1935 by Oberpräsident of Prussian province of Westphalia.
