Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The golden(=yellow) shield is divided per fess by a Markian chequered bar, the base is plain golden (=yellow), above the bar is a torso of St.Morris (German: Heiliger Mauritz, Latin: Mauritius) nimbed silver(=white) in blue clad armour holding a lance with a golden(=yellow) head in his right hand. Meaning: According to source St.Morris is the patron saint of the abbey of Fröndenberg. As a model for St.Morris had been used the statue of the saint standing in the dome of Magdeburg. The bar is symbolizing the counts of Mark, the former rulers.

The coat of arms was approved by minister of interior of Northrhine-Westphalia on 10 March 1949, �2(3) of Hauptsatzung of the city of Fröndenberg, version 17 June 1998 mentions a "flag", but in attachment no.3 to �2(3) a banner is displayed.
