Coat of Arms
Description of coat of arms:
Shield Or, parted by a bend wavy Azure, charged with a fish Argent.
Meaning:
Visbek had been a dominion of the Abbey of Corvey since 855. It had been planned to add this number into the arms in 1936. Visbeck had been the maternal parish of the Leri Shire and remained the centre of the Corvey dominions in the region until 1803. The arms are considered to be canting, but are at least punning as the municipality's name means fish creek.
The arms were approved on 3 December 1936 by Minister of Interior of Oldenburg and again on 24 September 1951 by Minister of Interior of Lower Saxony.
