Esens city
City of Esens (Samtgemeinde* Esens, Wittmund county, Lower Saxony)
Description of flag: It is a light blue over yellow horizontal bicolour with the citys coat of arms in the centre, which is topped by a black inscription Esens.
Description of coat of arms: In a silver field is a red tower with pinnacles, masoned black and flanked by a red fence on its sinister side. On top of the tower is a half black rampant bear, tongued red, wearing a golden necklace and holding a red brick between its paws in a threatening pose.
Another description in German is given in 2 (1) of Hauptsatzung der Stadt Esens, dated 15 December 1997, published on 4 May 1998 in_Amtblatt für den Landkreis Wittmund Nr.6_.
Source: I spotted this flag on 30 April 2009 on the road from Esens to Neuharlingersiel.
