Description
This flag was officially adopted in December 1919 and replaced in 1921. It is not clear how long the 1919 flag was actually used.
Norman Martin, 16 September 1998
The presidential flag was introduced with the decree of 27 September 1919. It was a black-red-gold tricolour with a golden rectangle, fimbriated white, in the center, thereon the black eagle. Proportion 3:5. Although this flag was certainly used, it was not really aesthetically pleasing, so it was replaced in 1921 by a totally different design. Sources:

- Znamierowski 1999 [zna99] The image in Znamierowski 1999 [zna99] is wrong regarding the proportion of the flag (should be 3:5), size and shape of the central golden field (shouldn't be square), the width of the white border (should be 1/60 of the flag height, not 1/20) and the pattern of the eagle.
