Overview
The canton was formed on 12 December 1950.
The flag and arms are presented on the municipal website: "The flag is made of two equal horizontal stripes of colours yellow and green. The upper part is yellow, representing gold as the emblem of the gold resources of the Eastern Region. The lower part is green, symbol of the abundant and rich flora covering the whole Canton of Limón Indanza."
The flag with the stars is shown, graphically, on a PDF document available on the website of the Association of the Ecuadorian municipalities.
The coat of arms uses the canton's flag as a crest, with a white ribbon charged with the writing "Limón llave del oriente" (Limón key of the East).
