Pays de Montbéliard Agglomération (139,989 inhabitants in 2016; 44,910 ha) groups 72 municipalities: Montbéliard, Abbévillers, Allenjoie, Allondans, Arbouans, Audincourt, Autechaux-Roide, Badevel, Bart, Bavans, Berche, Bethoncourt, Beutal, Blamont, Bondeval, Bourguignon, Bretigney, Brognard, Colombier-Fontaine, Courcelles-lès-Montbéliard, Dambelin, Dambenois, Dampierre-les-Bois, Dampierre-sur-le-Doubs, Dannemarie, Dasle, Dung, Échenans, Écot, Écurcey, Étouvans, Étupes, Exincourt, Fesches-le-Châtel, Feule, Glay, Goux-lès-Dambelin, Grand-Charmont, Hérimoncourt, Issans, Longevelle-sur-Doubs, Lougres, Mandeure, Mathay, Meslières, Montenois, Neuchâtel-Urtière, Noirefontaine, Nommay, Pierrefontaine-lès-Blamont, Pont-de-Roide-Vermondans, Présentevillers, Raynans, Rémondans-Vaivre, Roches-lès-Blamont, Saint-Julien-lès-Montbéliard, Saint-Maurice-Colombier, Sainte-Marie, Sainte-Suzanne, Seloncourt, Semondans, Sochaux, Solemont, Taillecourt, Thulay, Valentigney, Vandoncourt, Vieux-Charmont, Villars-lès-Blamont, Villars-sous-Dampjoux, Villars-sous-Écot, and Voujeaucourt.
Originally composed of 29 municipalities (Montbéliard, Allenjoie, Arbouans, Audincourt, Badevel, Bart, Bavans, Bethoncourt, Brognard, Courcelles-lès-Montbéliard, Dambenois, Dampierre-les-Bois, Dasle, Étupes, Exincourt, Fesches-le-Châtel, Grand-Charmont, Hérimoncourt, Mandeure, Mathay, Nommay, Sainte-Suzanne, Seloncourt, Sochaux, Taillecourt, Valentigney, Vandoncourt, Vieux-Charmont, and Voujeaucourt), Pays de Montbéliard was established in 1999 as the transfortmation of the former urban district in the first Communauté d'agglomération formed in France, and renamed to Pays de Montbéliard Agglomération in 2010.
Pays de Montbéliard Agglomération absorbed in 2017 the Communautés de communes of Balcons du Lomont, Pays de Pont-de-Roide, Trois Cantons and Vallée du Rupt (partially).
The flag of Pays de Montbéliard Agglomération (photo) is a vertical banner (3:1) with partial rendition of the graphic part of the logo in the lower half, and the name of the authority rotated in the upper half.

Between 2001 and 2010, Pays de Montbéliard used a white flag with the authority's logo.

In 2009, yellow flags featuring the logo in dark blue (photo) were offerred to the supporters of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard for the football match of First League againt Olympique de Marseille.
