Presentation of Sangatte

The municipality and sea resort of Sangatte (4,654 inhabitants in 2009; 1,428 ha) is located close to the French end-point of the Channel Tunnel.
A controversial refugee camp was established in Sangatte in 1999-2002.

The flag of Sangatte, as confirmed by the municipal administration, is white with the municipal coat of arms, "Azure a lion or armed and langued gules", in the middle.
