Fergersheim was mentioned for the first time in the 11th century, the Benedictine convent of Eschau having an important property there. Fegersheim and its annex Ohnheim successively belonged, as an episcopal fiefdom, to the Ochsenstein, Hanau-Lichtenberg and Rathsamhausen, who were lords until the French Revolution.
