Presentation of Chauray

Chauray (7,155 inhabitants in 2020; 1,450 ha) is a commune of the Deux-Sèvres department, in the Communauté d'agglomération du Niortais.

According to French vexillologist Pascal Vagnat in 2010, Chauray had a flag vertically divided blue and white (source: emblemes.free.fr website). The colors came from a particular version of the coat of arms.
There is indeed no azure in the coat of arms of the commune, blazoned: Argent three mullets Gules, a vol Sable in the fess point.
