The Guernsey Yacht Club (GYC) was officially formed in 1860.

The burgee of GYC is vertically divided white-red with a contoured coat of arms of Guernsey placed in the white field.

GUERNSEY YACHT CLUB LBG RULES
Rule 28
2. Burgee:
(a) The Club Burgee shall be white with a red fly and bearing the Guernsey Coat of Arms on the white.
(b) The Commodore�s flag shall be the Club Burgee Swallow-tailed.
(c) The Vice-Commodore�s and Rear-Commodores� flags shall be the same with the addition of one, and two, red balls respectively, in the upper corner.
(d) The Club�s distinguishing colours shall be Red and White

As usual, the Rear-Commodore's flag is a bit uncertain. At least we know that both balls go into the top corner in this case, but are they one beneath the other or side by side? Every club apparently find their method so obvious that they never bother to write it out.

By 1902, Lloyd's showed more or less the current design, be it drawn in 5:9 ratio. I attach the image of Plate 29 entry 3. However, a correction is added in the text, saying the shield should be red. This would make the arms the same as in the earlier publication, and similar to the current depictions. (Lloyd's Register of British and Foreign Shipping - Yacht Register [LLoXXb]? 1902-1903) The design must have changed during the 1892-1902 interval. (Considering that the 1902 artwork was incorrect, it might well be the change has happened that very year.)
