More proposals
I have browsed the pages of the Greenlandic newspaper Atuagagdliut/Gronlandsposten and as a by-catch I have found a few pages showing different proposals for a flag for Greenland. Probably there are a few more; and certainly it would help if anyone could provide some translation (from Danish at least!).

And two articles about the flag actually adopted in 1985:

Although there were a lot of other proposals for a Greenland flag, Atuagagdliutit/Grønlandsposten has not published those.
There are a few designs vaguely described in 1978, but without images:
- the Danebrog with a white map of Greenland
- the Danebrog with a green ulu (woman's knife)
- white with a blue stripe on top, charged with a seal (the animal)
mentioned by Mogens Edm. Andersen as published in 1973 in Bergsøe Reklame.

A couple of years ago I mentioned several newspaper articles (that are available online) showing some of the early proposals for a flag for Greenland.
First proposal

A white Scandinavian cross, fimbriated blue, on a green field. Ratio, colour shades and construction sheet unspecified, but I tried to be as close as possible to the published drawing. This was proposed in 1973 by Aĸigssiaĸ Møller, Leif Aidt, Erik Hammeken, Peter Fr. Rosing, Finn Lynge. The white is for the ice, blue for the sea, green for the vegetation and for the name "Greenland".

This was again published in 1974, in a slightly different drawing, though.

Third proposal

A blue Scandinavian cross, fimbriated red, on a white field. Ratio, colour shades and construction sheet unspecified, but I tried to be as close as possible to the published drawing. This was proposed in 1974 by a school class from Maniitsoq. White is for snow, blue for water, and red for the relationship between Denmark and Greenland. The Scandinavian cross is for the connection with the other Nordic countries.

A white Scandinavian cross, fimbriated green, on a red field, the lower hoist canton blue with a white star. Ratio, colour shades and construction sheet unspecified, but I tried to be as close as possible to the published drawing. This was proposed in 1974 by a certain "E. J." from Narsaq. The star presumably should symbolize the Polar Star.

The Dannebrog was very popular in Greenland, and still is. So there were proposals (e.g. in a letter to the editor by Edvard Hansen) to keep it as Greenland's national flag.

This was later critized for already being the flag of Bornholm.
Source:http://timarit.is/files/15361385.pdf(Atuagagdliutit/Grønlandsposten 1978, iss. 47 (30 November 1978), p. 24)
M. Schmöger, 28 January 2015
At the time of proposal 10, 1974, the Bornholmflag must still have been Green's design, the flag with the white field. So, at the 1974 flag competition, such a comment ought to have been directed towards Greenland proposal 5, which matches Green's Bornholm flag. Then again, the winner of the 1974 competition, proposal 7, looked very much like the flag of Denmark, and nobody had a problem with that either.

A green Scandinavian cross, fimbriated white, on a red field. Ratio, colour shades and construction sheet unspecified, but I tried to be as close as possible to the published drawing. Greenland proposal 14 is basically the same design, as the article mentions as well. In 1978 Bornholm had two flags different from Green's flag, and it had been the writer of that comment, Mogens Andersen, who had created the green cross fimbriated white. Had Greenland adopted that flag, Bornholm would have had the green cross flag left, so no damage done. But apparently he felt the need to protect his creation.
