Presentation of Beli Manastir

The Town of Beli Manastir (10,986 inhabitants in 2001, 8,671 in the town of Beli Manastir) is the largest town in the Croatian part of Baranja, located some 20 km north of Osjiek.

The symbols of Beli Manastir are are described in Article 5 of the Town Statutes Statut Grada Belog Manastira, adopted on 2 July 2009 by the Town Assembly and published on 3 July 2009 in the Town official gazette Službeni glasnik Grada Belog Manastira, No. 4 (text).
The former Town Statutes Statut Grada Belog Manastira (pročišćeni tekst) (text), published on 12 October 2001 in Službeni glasnik Grada Belog Manastira, No. 3, did not include a description of the symbols, only provisions that they should be determined by further Decisions; these Statutes were amended several times (April 2001, February 2003, May 2005, June 2005 and January 2006), maybe with the inclusion of the symbols' description.

The flag is prescribed in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms of the Town in the middle.

The coat of arms is prescribed as follows: "The coat of arms of the Town of Beli Manastir contains the figure of St. Martin on a blue background standing on a stone fortress clad as a Roman soldier, holding in his right arm a golden cross, and in his left a cut-out piece of the red cloak".
St. Martin is the patron saint of the town.

The official gazette of Beli Manastir continued to depict the pre 1990s emblem of the Town, which must have been in use since at least the 1980s but probably even some decades further back.
The emblem is heavily patterned after the emblem of the Socialist Republic of Croatia at the time, with the chequy arms replaced by the elements of the historical coat of arms of Baranja County: the two tiered tower with a bunch of grapes ensigned in the top tier, still used by the Baranya County in Hungary. The tower is set in front of a raising sun with wavy lines in base, all encircled with a wreath (oak in dexter and hard to tell which plant is in sinister) tied with a ribbon in base, from which is issuing a cog wheel. At the top a five-pointed star.
