The municipality of Ravna Gora (2,724 inhabitants in 2001, 1,869 in the village of Ravna Gora) is located some 50 km east of Rijeka on the Rijeka-Zagreb road, approximately half way between Delnice and Vrbovsko.
"Ravna Gora", meaning something like "a flat topped mountain or hill", is a very frequent toponym in the wider region. There is a mountain north-west of Požega named Ravna gora, there are at least another two mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina of the same name, but maybe is best known Ravna gora on the border between Serbia and Montenegro, where the core of the Četnik Movement was formed.

Flag of Ravna Gora

The symbols of Ravna Gora are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Ravna Gora, adopted on 20 May 1995 by the Municipality Assembly and published only on 10 December 1999 (probably after approval by the Ministry of Administration) in the County official gazette Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 26.
The description of the symbols is repeated in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Ravna Gora, adopted in 2001, consolidated in 2006 and updated in 2009.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag is in proportions 1:2, light blue with the coat of arms in the middle. The flags in use (photo, photo) regularly display the coat of arms with a darker shade of blue than the flag, while the coat of arms, when used alone, uses a light blue shade.

The coat of arms is "Azure a village argent roofed gules beneath a rocky mountain argent issuant from a base vert on which is a bar or and in chief dexter a sun or and in sinister a crescent argent", a modernization of the historical coat of arms.
The Decision calls the shield "Croatian", as opposed to the "Hungarian" shield used on the ceremonial symbols.

The ceremonial flag is in proportions 1:2, light blue with the ceremonial coat of arms in the centre.
The ceremonial coat of arms, in "Hungarian" style, is a simplification of the "baroque" shield used in the historical arms.

The former symbols of Ravna Gora are prescribed in the 1993 Municipality Statutes.
The flag is light blue with the historical seal in the middle. The town was granted Royal Free Market rights in 1785 by Emperor Joseph II, together with a coat of arms. The style of the coat of arms, shown by Oštrić [osg02], was similar to others granted in the period, with coat of arms in a cartouche surrounded with a white ring to form a seal, all within a baroque allegorical scene.
