Royal Munster Yacht Club - Background
Founded in 1872 as the Munster Model Yacht Club, the Royal Munster Yacht Club merged with the Royal Cork Yacht Club, then dormant, in 1966; the name was retained in the RCYCs official name.
One of this clubs feats was the introduction of the 12 foot dinghy to Ireland, locally built, in 1923. For many years it enjoyed the hospitality of the Cork Harbour Motor Yacht Club at Crosshaven.
