Overview
The Central American Armed Forces Conference (CFAC) is a specialized international body of military nature. It was created by the Presidents of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua on November 12, 1997, and Dominican Republic joined in 2007. Its mission is to promote a permanent and systematic effort of cooperation, coordination and mutual support among the Armed Forces for the professional study of shared issues and provide a high level of defence against threats to democracy, peace and freedom. To contribute to security, as well as to the military development and integration in the region, in order to conduct humanitarian and peacekeeping operations.
Observer countries are: Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Russia,Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom andUnited States.

Since 2010, a new flag has also been used, which is blue with a white cross, and logo is placed in the center of the white cross, but plain white flag remains the official one.
