Republic of Crema (1797)

by Roberto Breschi, 11 August 2003

Roberto Breschi, in his presantation: "Flags in Italy under Napoleon's pressure" at ICV 20 in Stockholm, reported about the Republic of Crema (Rep. Cremasca): This republic existed for 110 day between 28 March and 9 July 1797. Its flag was gold Coat of Arms and inscription on white background.
Dov Gutterman, 4 August 2003

Crema Republic flag as was published in Flag Report 31 (Spanish version).
Jaume Ollé, 5 August 2003

Note that it is quite certain that the stripes of the coat-of-arms on the original flags were white and red. They were embroidered by silver and golden thread to impart richness to the flag.
