This Emperor's flag was used 10 December 10 to 30 Sepember 1889 at sea.

The gold 16 petals chrysanthemum are on a red field without texture, Proportions 3:4.
This flag was used October 28, 1871-Sepember 30, 1889. A cavalry soldier held this flag and lead Emperor's carriage thus the flag is smaller than regular Japanese flags.
