The city emblem was adopted on Jun 1st 1955 but there is no flag law. The maroon flag has an orange city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 高 Taka of rikuzenTakata in a form of a sumo wrestler performing a ring entrance ceremony. The center circle symbolize a reconciliation and a solidarity of the citizen, the umbonal parts at both side do the city which is developing outwards.
