The Flag
Oyama city in Tochigi adopted its flag on 13 October 1971.

field: purple; emblem: white; size of emblem is 5/8 of height; a stylized kanji O 小 of Oyama which stands for harmony and developement.

The kanji O is 小 (small). Oyama can literally mean small mountain, or hill. The emblem shows a mountain shape in a circle, the circle standing for harmony of the citizens and the mountain shape/arrow for the (rapid) development of the city.
