The city emblem was adopted on Mar 1st 2004 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a green and a blue two color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized hiragana か Ka of Kahoku. The green color stands for a surge and a development of the city and the blue color for a cap of wave of Japan Sea.
