The town emblem was adopted on May 10th 1963 but there is no flag law. The green flag has a white town emblem in the center. The town emblem is a stylized hiragana し Shi of Shirakawa. The circle symbolizes the towns peace, the sharp curved line does a surge and the town peoples solidarity and a service. As a whole, the graceful design represents a natural home town Shirakawa with green mountains and clear waters.
