The city emblem was adopted on Dec 12th 1942. It is a stylized katakana ア A of Aioi. The city flag was adopted on Oct 1st 1992 by Notice No 67. The blue flag has a white flag charge in the center which is different from the city emblem. The flag charge is a stylized A of Aioi in a form of a sail and waves. It represents an image of the city which strongly put out to the Ocean and the future. The flag proportion is 7:10.
