The city emblem was adopted on Nov 29th 2005 by Notice No 167 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a blue and a light blue two color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 四 Shi of Shimanto in a form of a river stream. It represents the history of the former Nakamura City and Nishitosa village still alive in the city.
