It was a military-political coalition established in early 1868 by 31 Domains to fight against new Meiji Goverment Forces and help Aizu Domain. They made army flag charged with five pointed star. This flag exists in two colors, white and black. However this is not actually a star but rather ABENO-SEIMEI-seal , a design believed to have magical power. In Western world it is a pentacle or a seal of Solomon.
