Overview

Marcinkonys (Varena District) - under red head with five golden patriarchal crosses on silver background three black wolf heads two over one. Flag proportions 10:11, free edges bordered with silver rope, finial is silver tip with silver bands. Patriarchal crosses mean the local custom of building large wooden crosses with two crosspieces, also the resistance of local people against Polish regime: building of such Lithuanian crosses was one of methods of fight. Red colour means blood spilled to keep the Lithuanian identity. Wolf heads mean wolves living in environs.
