Description
City of Ħal Qormi received her charter from Grand Master Pinto (1743) and its flag was influenced by the arms of the Grand Master. Source: Strickland 1999 [str99].

Blazon: Argent, five crescents in saltire Gules. These are the Pinto arms, a Portuguese noble lineage, one of whom was a Grand Master of the Malta Order.

Citta Pinto: Ħal Qormi: This medieval village was raised to cityhood by Grandmaster Prince Manuel Pinto de Fonseca, who also founded the local University.
