The council told me they adopted a new coat of arms; though this appears to be for the administration only. The coat of arms has the same form as the coat of arms of the State, having at the top a helmet and at the bottom a ribbon in the National Colors reading GENERAL TERÁN, N.L. The sides of the border read the years 1746 and 1851; when it was founded and when it became a municipality, respectively. The upper-left section depicts a scene with a trail leading to a settlement, representing the city. The upper-right section depicts a crowned rampant lion, symbol of the state. The lower-left section depicts the Pilón River, sustaining life in the area. The lower-right section depicts a citrus tree part of fruticulture, ear of corn and sorghum for agriculture, and bovine for cattle-raising. In the center is an inescutcheon depicting the Sabino Gordo (old tree the municipality is known for), with the words VALLE DE LA MOTA under; the original name the region was called. Some older versions depict a blocky frame instead.
