Nicknames:
"Theebuiken" - teabellies, who like tea too much
"Zwävelsoppers" - sulphurdippers: there were many travelling salesmen dealing with sulphur-sticks (predecessors of matches), which had to be dipped in sulphur.
"Pekkellikkers" - pekkel is a synonym of "jenever" - gin: they liked a glas of gin (or two).

Ze schooien de kost
En ze stelen de brand

Loon op Zand
light people, light land,
They beg for food
and they stel the fire (=fuel)

"Zwevelmarsen" - the "Kètsers" sold the sulphursticks, which were dipped in Loon.
"Boenderbinders" - scrubber-binders, made from the heather in the neighbourhood.
