This flag was adopted 26 Mar 1962 by municipal resolution. The municipal arms, as used by the municipal council, shows (contrary to the officially granted arms) behind the shield two flags like that. For more information one is referred to Veere!

Description old municipal flag of Borssele, prior to 1959: diagonally divided; left upper half the municipal colors black - white - black; the right bottom half in the provincial colors (yellow-blue), with in the last field also the Coat of Arms of the old municipality of Borsselem as well as of the manor Borssele.
