Vierpolders [former municipality]
Vierpolders (four polders) is a former municipality, since 1 Jan 1980 part of the municipality of Brielle, Zuid-Holland province. It was also known as "Brielster Nieuwland".
Flag: four stripes of equal length of red and white; the first stripe charged with a white sword, pointing upwards, with on top one yellow penny, towards the hoist five, towards the fly four yellow pennies, placed opposite the top four at the hoist, all pennies charged with a shortened white cross.
Flag adopted 25 Jun 1969.
This sword with the pennies is from the Coat of Arms; it refers to the refusal of the population to pay the "tiende penning" (tithe) to the Duke of Alva. That tax was to be challenged by sword, rather than by payment.

However there was already a proposal:
Description: three equally long stripes of red and white, with in the center of the red stripes each a yellow penny.
This flag was adviced by the High Council of Nobility, and was inspired by the municipal arms. The flag was probably never used.
