Blazon: I rødt to oppflygende sølv måker. In English: Gules two seagulls volant argent.
Approved by the royal resolution of 10 March 1989, after a design by Jarle Skuseth (cf. http://www.gjestekro.no/vapen.htm)
The above-mentioned site states: "For an island-municipality as Smøla, the sea and coast are the most important elements both for nature and for industry. The gulls are a living part of that."
