The Flag

The banners apparently existed in four colours; though the Olympic symbol is in six colours it's rare to see a design repeated in all six of them; if using the same shades as the flag, banners usually seem to be white on red, green, or blue, and sometimes on yellow. In this case, it appears banners with a red field were most prominent, possibly for having the same field colour as the flag of the Soviet Union. I wonder whether for flags, this meant only the red version existed, or whether it just again was the most prominent.

I found a pic of the banner of the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980. The logo may (or is) bigger on my drawing than the real thing, but this is what it looked like. The banner was used at the openning cerimonies at the Moscow Games, a red banner, with the logo in white. I got the picture from a site that dealt with the 1980 games.

I saw photos of analogous banners of all colours of olympic movement (green, blue, yellow, red but without black).

The 1980 (Moscow) Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXII Olympiad, has its own flag, seenhere. (vertical flag, very similar as those posed by Zachary Harden. It is a vertical red flag featuring thelogo on the upper part.

I have decided to improve the vertical flag image. I tried to match it close toflag seen here as much as possible.
