Another, officially bilingual commune in Poland (Polish - Kashubian):
Gmina Sierakowice / Gmina Serakowice - rural commune, Kartuzy County, Pomorskie Voivodship - Kashubian name: Serakowice; German name: Sierakowitz.
Gmina Sierakowice is a rural gmina (commune) in Kartuzy County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. Its seat is the village of Sierakowice, which lies approximately 21 kilometres (13 mi) west of Kartuzy and 49 km (30 mi) west of the regional capital Gdańsk.
Area: 182.36 sq.km (70.4 sq.mi); Population: 17,154 (2007).
Village of Sierakowice/Serakowice looks more like a small town. It is a trade and service center for the larger area around it.
An interesting altar, built for the open-air Mass during Pope John Paul II visit to Pelpin in 1999, was moved to the downtown Sierakowice and is displayed in a special garden, which will become a park with the monument to the Pope in the future.
Arms and flag adopted on January 28, 2003 (resolution # V/22/03).
"Arms: on a blue, gothic shield golden letter "S" serving as background for half-white eagle of the Piasts and half-black griffin of the Kashubians. Above is a golden crown with three lilies.
Flag: rectangular piece of blue cloth: width=1;length=1,5 of width.
In the middle of the flag the Arms are placed: height of letter "S" = 0,5 of the width of the flag; distance from the tip of the eagle's wing to the end of the griffin's tail = 0,35 of the width of the flag."
