Description of the flag
I just found another portuguese district flag! It’s the flag of the district of Aveiro, and it is probably the ugliest flag I’ve ever seen. In a white field, there is a huge shield.
Jorge Candeias, 05 Jan 1998
Presentation of the district
This district has an area of 2812 km2, and a population of 663 060 inhabitants as of 1990, living in 19 municipalities.

A vexillological and heraldic mess, consisting of a quartered large shield with the Aveiro municipal coat of arms over all and the other 18 municipal coats of arms arranged in each partition: the bottom ones (4+4) per bend and bend sinister, the upper ones in cross 1+2+1 (5+5).
Antonio Martins, 30 Jul 1999
The shield is shaped as our municipal shields and has a a scroll underneath that reads «DISTRITO DE AVEIRO». No crown, mural or other. The shield is quartered, and each quarter is filled with a different pattern either in white and blue, or in white and green. The coloured lines are quite thin, so the overall colour is mainly white. In the center, there is the municipal coat of arms of Aveiro, and the other municipal coats of arms of the district are distributed inside the quarters in four distinct patterns. All coats are complete, with scroll and mural crown.
