Shield Argent charged with a durmast oak (Quercus petraea<(i>) Vert stalked and eradicated Sable, fruited Or, alongside the stem flanked by two tanner's hammers Sable garnished Or. Mural crown with four visible towers (town) and white scroll reading "VILA DE ALCANENA" in black upper case letters .

## Presentation of Alcanena

Alcanena is a municipality belonging to the district of Santarém (old province of Ribatejo), with an area of 127.3 sq. km. and 14 373 inhabitants (data from local authorities 14 560 as of 2000, census data). It is divided in 10 freguesias(communes). The main economic activities are transforming industries and commerce.
