About the Flag
It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of yellow and red.

Shield Sable, a castle Or with port and windows Gules, bordure Argent charged with alternating four acorns Vert and four bees Sable lined Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading"VILA DE ALMODÔVAR" in black upper case letters.
Meaning:
The castle is alluding to the local castle and the old walled city from the days of King Dom Dinis. Furthermore the castle had been a commendary of the Knights' Order of Santiago. The bees are referring to the regions fertility and the many beehives placed here. The acorns are referring to the many local kork oaks as an economical base. The black colour is symbolizing honesty and stability, the white colour of the orle riches and abjection, the yellow colour fidelity, power and steadfastness, the red colour light and clarity, the green colour faith and hope.

This is a town, that belongs to Beja district, has a 775,9 sq. km. area, 8 communes (communes) and about 8900 inhabitants.
