About the flag
It is a quite typical portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centered on a green and black quarterly background (town rank). This flag and arms were adopted and published in the official journal_Diário do Governo : I Série_ in 1936.08.26.

The arms are Argent two olive branches Vert fruited Sable tied Gules between two pines Vert fruited Or and trunked and erradicated Sable and in chief a bunch of grapes Purpure leaved and stemmed Vert and on a barrulet wavy Azure in base three fish naiant Argent garnished Sable. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank).

White scroll reading in black upper case letters "Vila de Alpiarça" — according to the law of 1936.08.26, while flags in use have only "Alpiarça".

This coat of arms includes valuable agricultural infomation, but is too busy for my taste (as ar most Portuguese subnationals, unfortunately).

Presentation of Alpiarça
Alpiarça municipality had 8024 inhabitants in 2001, and it consists of one single commune, covering 94,44 km². It is part of Santarém District, traditional province Ribatejo, 1999 ref. adm. region Estremadura e Ribatejo, pre-2002 C.C.R. / NUTS II Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, current C.C.R. / NUTS II Alentejo, and NUTS III Lezíria do Tejo.

It is a fairly typical portuguese commnal flag, with the coat of arms centered on a plain green background. Flag and arms adopted and published in the official journal Diário da República : III Série in 2001.05.21.

The arms are Argent per fess three bunches of grapes Purpure leafed Vert above a boat Sable emphasized Argent issuant from a campaign Azure wavy charged with a fess Argent wavy and in chief a plough Gules. Mural crown argent with three visible towers (commune rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "Freguesia de Alpiarça".
