It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field of yet unknown colour.

Shield Gules two umbrellas Or in saltire and over all an opened umbrella Argent, in chief a bull head caboshed Or armed Argent and garnished Sable, flanked at dexter by an orb Or garnished Argent and at sinister by a 5-point star Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILAR E VIVEIRO".
Meaning:
The bull head is a common charge in the local coats of arms here in Barroso (municipalities Boticas and Montalegre), standing for the locally important autochthonous cattle breed barrosão, its meat is a P.D.O. in the EU, see here.

Vilar e Viveiro is one of the five communes of Boticas Municipality created by a merger during the 2013 changes. It had 383 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 30,88 km².

Shield Argent a barrosã breed cow passant Proper, in chief an orb Gules garnished Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "S. SALVADOR DE VIVEIRO".
Meaning:
The orb is an attribute of Jesus Christ, as Divine Saviour being patron saint and name giver of the commune.
