It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Shield Argent, issuant from base a mountain Vert crowned by beacon Argent masoned sable with fire Or, the beacon is flanked by two embowed palm leaves Proper. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "PALMEIRA DE FARO".
Meaning:
Palm leaves (Port.: palmeiras) and beacon (Port.: faro) together are canting.

In modern Portuguese it�s "farol", meaning "lighthouse", but indeed it stems from a previous etym of Greek origin "faro" - cp. the city of the same name, on the other end of mainland Portugal (whose arms are not canting).

Palmeira de Faro Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Esposende Municipality (q.v.); it had 2403 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 6.8 km².

Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "CURVOS - ESPOSENDE".
