It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.

Shield Gules two squeezers Or in fess with spindles of the same, on central chief point in an aureole Or a knife Sable in pale hafted Gules, base wavy Argent charged with three barrulets wavy Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILAR – MOIMENTA DA BEIRA".
Meaning:
The base wavy is a representation of the dammed lake of Vilar, impounding the waters of the Távora River. Knife and aureole are alluding the St. Bartholomew, the local patron saint.

Presentation of Vilar
Vilar is one of the 13 communes of Moimenta da Beira Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 316 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 8,84 km².
