It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field.

Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, a Bengal quince tree eradicated Argent fruited Or, superimposed by a sword flamant Gules in pale. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black upper case letters "MARMELEIRA - MORTÁGUA".
Meaning:
The Bengal quince (Latin: Aegle marmelos, Port.: marmeleiro) is a canting element. The sword is an attribute of St. Michael, the local patron saint.

Presentation of Marmeleira

Marmeleira is one of the six communes of Mortágua Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 489 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 16,52 km².
