About the Flag
It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field gyronny of green and yellow (city rank)-.

Arms: Sable semy of corn cobs Proper, a cross rounded Gules. Mural crown with five visible towers argent and white scroll reading in black capitals. "PAÇOS DE FERREIRA". Meaning:
The black colour is corresponding with the local soil, from which the municipality lives, furthermore it is symbolizing firmness and honesty. The corn cobs are ymbolizing the natural riches, the golden colour also symbolizes nobility, loyalty and power, the green colour also symbolizes hope and faith. The cross reminds on the Order of the Templars, who lived in this area.

Paços de Ferreira was made city and seat of a municipality on 2 July 1993. The new symbols have never been adopted by the local assembly (at least until 1998). The old symbols, a quartered flag and a coat of arms with four visisble towers instead, had been adopted and published in Diário do Governo : I Série on 25 August 1932.

Presentation of Paços de Ferreira
Paços de Ferreira is a small city, capital of a municipality with 62km2 and 45 570 inhabitants in 16 communes. It is located currently in the Porto district (traditional province of Douro Litoral) and will be integrated into the region Entre-Douro-e-Minho.
