Shield Purpure a pelican Or feeding his children, issuant from base wavy of Azure and Argent a mountain Argent charged with a branch Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with black, unusual inscription in minuscels "Freguesia de Ruvina".

Shield Sable, a bell Or with bobbin Gules, entangled by a serpent Argent tongued Gules. In chief a fessy, sinister pointing sword Argent hilted Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank)and white scroll with inscription in black initials "RUIVÓS - SABUGAL".

Shield Vert, two horses forcene respectant Argent, in chief an oak branch Argent having two leaves and two acorns fruited Or, in either chief corner a chestnut Or filled Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "VALE DAS �GUAS - SABUGAL".
Meaning:
The name of the commune means "valley of mares" (=she-horses). The horses are thus canting elements.
