Shield Argent a fess wavy Azure charged with a barrulet wavy Argent, in chief two bells Sable with clappers Gules garnished Or, in base a garb of straw Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "PALHAIS - TRANCOSO".
Meaning:
The word "palhais" means "strawbarns" and the garb on the arms is likely a canting element. The wavy base on the arms might stand for either or both the River Távora, which forms the westernmost bounday of this commune, or its tributary Ribeira do Paúl (= marsh creek), which flows across the commune from east to west.
